Terroir: The Hautes Côtes de Beaune dominate the west of the slopes of Beaune, from Maranges to Ladoix-Serrigny, at an altitude of 280 to 450 metres. There is a succession of hills and valleys with lower slopes of nacreous limestone, on the slopes there is limestone with chert and on the hilltops clay and hard limestone.
Ageing: 15 days in temperature controlled open tanks, followed by 10 months ageing (60% oak vats and 40% tanks)
Color: Purple with violet hues
Nose: Aromas of morello cherry, raspberry, crushed strawberry and violet with an endearing spontaneity
Palate: Loads of red fruits, blueberry, cherries and expressive floral notes. Brilliant structure with savory and sappy tannins
About the Winery: Based in Volnay, the Delagrange Family owns 32 acres of vineyard located amongst the best terroirs of the Côtes de Beaune. The Estate is run by Didier Delagrange, vinegrower and winemaker who produces high quality Burgundy wines that are vinified and bottled at the Estate. The Domaine’s philosophy can be summarised as follows: Careful, rigorous care of the vines as this is the start, with grapes picked perfectly healthy and at the right moment. The importance of understanding each vintage to preserve the natural balance of the wine and to maintain the traditional character of the wine by intervening as little as possible during vinification.
