Crafting wine since 1783 in Valeyrac near the mouth of the Gironde estuary, Chateau le Bourdieu benefits from the river's moderating effect on temperature and humidity, allowing a slow, even ripening across its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines planted on classic Médoc "croupes" — gravel-and-clay rises above the water table.
Fermented in steel and concrete before a year in French oak, this Cru Bourgeois shows a deep red colour with pure, feminine red-berry aromatics lifted by subtle florals, and a palate of red fruit, spice and tobacco.
Tasting notes: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Deep red; red berry and floral nose; spiced, tobacco-tinged palate.
Food pairing: Roast lamb, duck confit, or a classic steak-frites.
