Rémy Ferbras pays tribute to the very first cellar master of Les Grandes Serres, a historic Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate now owned by the Burgundian Picard family. Thirty local growers, most farming organically, supply fruit grown on the appellation's famous rolled-pebble, red-clay soils, vinified with minimal intervention and aged in concrete and large oak foudres.
A deep ruby red with garnet reflections, the 2020 is rich and complex on the nose — ripe red fruit, sweet spice, black pepper and wild garrigue herbs. Full-bodied and generous on the palate, with velvety tannins running through black cherry and liquorice to a long, spiced finish.
Tasting notes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre blend. Deep ruby; spiced red fruit and garrigue herbs; full-bodied, velvety finish.
Food pairing: Braised beef, lamb tagine, or a well-aged hard cheese.
